Payment, Deposit & Cancellation Policy FAQ

We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, and Zelle. Payment is due at the end of the appointment, after you have looked over the work.

We are the ones who turn up. The couch cleaner nyc customers book through this site is our own technician in our own van, dispatched from East 116th Street. Nothing is handed to a third party crew, so the person who tested your fabric is the person who cleans it.

Neither word is quite right. Nothing is soaked and nothing leaves your apartment. On water safe fabric we use hot water extraction, where solution goes in and comes straight back out with the soil. On delicate S coded fabric we use a dry solvent instead, with no water at all.

Yes, and it is usually cheaper than booking them apart. Most visits are a sofa plus the two armchairs beside it, or a sectional plus the dining chairs. Tell us the piece count on the phone and the whole room is quoted as one number.

East 116th Street in East Harlem. From there we cover every borough with no travel surcharge, so an upholstery cleaning Manhattan NY booking and a Staten Island booking are the same rate. Upper Manhattan and western Queens are simply quickest for us to reach.

Dust mites live on shed skin in mattresses and upholstery, and they do not survive the heat and extraction of a proper clean. We cannot promise an allergy cure, and no honest cleaner can. What we can do is remove the waste and skin cells the mites feed on.

No deposit is required for a standard residential booking. We ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. A same day cancellation may carry a $35 trip fee if a technician is already on the way to your address. Rescheduling ahead of time, with no fee, is always fine. Just call us as soon as you know your plans have changed.

Yes. Tell us what you want cleaned when you call, whether that is one sofa or an entire living room and bedroom. We quote the full visit together instead of pricing each piece separately, which is usually the better value. A larger job, like a full apartment, may need a longer appointment window, so let us know the full list up front so we can plan the visit correctly.

Yes. We give a firm quote before we start any work, based on what you describe over the phone. If a piece turns out to be different from what was described, larger, more heavily soiled, or a different fabric than expected, we tell you the updated price before touching it. You decide whether to proceed at that point. There are no added charges after the job is finished.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Method questions are answered in more detail on steam cleaning in NYC and in our seven step process. For what to try yourself first, see cleaning a fabric couch at home on the blog.

The technician arrives in your scheduled window and confirms the pieces and price with you first. Next, we check the fabric care tag on each piece and run a small hidden area test if needed. We vacuum the surface to remove loose dust and debris, treat any visible stains, then clean the fabric using the method that matches the fabric code, either hot water extraction or dry solvent cleaning. After cleaning, we groom the fabric and set up fans or open windows to start the drying process. We walk through the finished work with you before payment.

Please clear small items off the piece being cleaned, such as pillows, throws, remotes, and anything on cushions or arms. You do not need to pull the sofa away from the wall or move it out of the room, we work around it in place. If the path to the piece is narrow or blocked, for example boxes stacked in a hallway, clearing a walkway helps us bring equipment in without delay.

No extra charge for walk-up buildings. Carrying equipment up the stairs is part of working in New York City. Just let us know the floor number when you book so we bring the right setup for a fourth or fifth floor walk-up.

Building Access & What We Cannot Clean

We cover all five boroughs plus Long Island, and the full list is on areas we serve. Price questions are answered in the upholstery cleaning cost guide.

Many NYC co-op and condo boards require a certificate of insurance, known as a COI, from any vendor entering the building. We carry general liability insurance and can usually provide a COI within one business day. Some buildings also restrict vendor access to a service elevator during set business hours, often weekday mornings, and may need advance notice to reserve it. Tell us your building's name and any requirements when you book, and we will send the COI or coordinate the elevator window with your management office or superintendent ahead of time.

We will tell you before we start, not after. This can happen with a fabric coded X, which allows vacuuming only and no liquid of any kind, or with furniture that has existing structural damage, like a broken frame, failing springs, or foam that has started to break down. In those cases, cleaning could make the damage worse rather than better. We will explain what we found and give you an honest recommendation, which may mean vacuuming only, or referring you to a repair or reupholstery specialist. We do not charge for a piece we decide not to clean.

Pet Odor Treatment & Using Your Furniture Again

We apply an enzyme solution that breaks down the uric acid crystals left behind by dried pet urine, which is the actual source of the odor, rather than covering it with fragrance. The enzymes need time on the fabric to work, so we let the solution sit for a set period before extraction. Light to moderate odor usually clears in one treatment.

If urine has soaked deep into the cushion foam over a long period, a surface treatment may reduce but not fully remove the smell, since the source is inside the foam rather than on the fabric. In that case, we will tell you honestly, and replacing the foam insert, not re-cleaning, is usually what solves it.

Once the piece is dry, usually within a few hours depending on the fabric, you can sit on it, put cushions and throw pillows back, and use it the way you normally would. There is no waiting period beyond letting it dry fully. If we moved a piece slightly to clean around it, we will put it back in its original spot before we leave.

Ask for the price in writing before the visit, and ask what happens if a stain does not come out. An honest answer to the second question is that some do not. We would rather tell you that on the phone than take the booking and disappoint you in your living room.

One sofa is about an hour. A sofa and four dining chairs is two. A living room plus a bedroom runs to half a day. Most of that is setup, drying and breakdown rather than cleaning, which is why booking several pieces together costs far less per piece.
