Couch Cleaning Harlem: We Are Based Here
Our address is 89 East 116th Street, which makes Harlem the shortest drive we make. Brownstone parlour floors, elevator buildings and everything in between, cleaned on site.
Professional Sofa Cleaning in Harlem
Harlem holds two very different kinds of living room. A brownstone parlour floor has high ceilings and room for a full sectional, and the sofa usually came in through a door at the top of a stoop. An apartment in one of the elevator buildings along Frederick Douglass or Lenox has tighter turns and a smaller piece.
We size the visit to the room before we quote it, then clean where the sofa already sits. The our sofa cleaning process process does not change between the two.
Upholstery Cleaning in Harlem NY
Brownstone furniture is often older than the tenants. Pieces get passed down with the building, bought at estate sales along the avenue, or inherited from a relative who had them reupholstered decades ago. Reupholstered means the original care tag is gone and the new fabric is anyone guess.
We test before we treat, every time. The upholstery care by fabric code page explains how we identify fiber when there is no tag to read.
Carpet and Stair Cleaning in Harlem
The stoop to parlour staircase in a Harlem brownstone is the hardest working textile in the house. It is usually wool, frequently original to the building, and every person who enters walks it.
We work the whole of it: Central Harlem, East Harlem, South Harlem below 125th and Hamilton Heights above it. Wool runners need edge work by hand and a method that will not shrink them. We price stairs per flight because the risers and the edges are where the time goes, not the treads. See how we clean carpet for how fiber type changes the approach.
Pet Urine and Odor Removal in Harlem
Ground floor and garden level apartments with yard access mean dogs come and go all day, and the call we get is almost never about a fresh accident. It is about one from last year that returns whenever the humidity does.
Urine salts crystallize in cushion foam or in the pad under a rug and reactivate with moisture, which is why a surface spray keeps failing. Enzyme has to reach the source. The enzyme based odor removal page explains the difference.
Couch Cleaning Harlem: What It Costs
Harlem prices are the same as the rest of Manhattan. Being local does not make us cheaper, it makes us faster. What sets the figure is fabric, soil level and how many pieces are in the visit.
Because we are minutes away, Harlem is where our short notice slots usually go. If something opens up in the afternoon we can often fill it here when we could not reach Brooklyn or Staten Island in time.
Starting prices
Same prices across Manhattan. Being a few blocks away changes how fast we can get to you, not what the visit costs.
Get Exact PricingBrownstone Floors, Stoops and Narrow Parlour Doors
Couch cleaning Harlem work is mostly brownstone work. A brownstone puts the main living space one flight above the street, reached by a stoop with nowhere to set equipment down. That is the first thing we plan for. Kit comes up in one carry, drop cloths go down at the parlour door, and nothing gets dragged across original floorboards that are often a century old and never refinished.
Garden level apartments have the opposite problem. They sit below grade, hold humidity year round, and anything upholstered down there dries slowly. We extract harder and leave air movers running rather than calling the job finished when it stops looking wet.
The newer condo buildings along 125th Street and the avenues behave like any other elevator building. Some ask for a certificate of insurance, which we send at no charge, and most have a service entrance that makes the carry easier than any brownstone.

Questions From Harlem Customers
Do you cover South Harlem as well as East and Central?
Yes, all three. South Harlem runs roughly from 110th up to 125th on the west side, and it is a ten minute drive from our door on East 116th Street. Steam cleaning South Harlem and upholstery cleaning Harlem NY bookings are often same day for that reason.
Do you clean hardwood floors or do tiling?
No. We clean textiles only: upholstery, mattresses, carpet and rugs. If a job needs hardwood refinishing or tile work you want a flooring contractor, not us, and we would rather say so than take the booking.
Are you actually based in Harlem?
Yes. Our address is 89 East 116th Street, New York, NY 10029. It is a working address, not a mailbox, and it is the reason Harlem gets our short notice appointments more often than anywhere else in the city.
Can you clean a rug without taking it away?
In most cases yes. We clean rugs in place on a protective barrier so the floor underneath stays dry. Wool and antique rugs get a fiber and dye test at an edge first. If a rug genuinely needs immersion cleaning we will say so rather than treat it badly on your floor.
Do the newer buildings on 125th Street need a certificate of insurance?
Several do. Send us the building name, address and the managing agent legal name and we issue one at no charge, usually the same day. Older brownstones almost never ask for one.
There is nowhere to set equipment down outside my building. Is that a problem?
No. On a Harlem stoop we stage on the steps rather than the sidewalk and carry in from the vehicle in two trips. Tell us which side of the street you are on when you book, because alternate side parking decides where we can stop.
